NAKED LUNCH
The book was originally published with the title The Naked Lunch in Paris in 1959 by Olympia Press. An American edition by Grove Press followed soon after in 1962. The American edition was titled Naked Lunch and was substantially different from the Olympia Press edition, because it was based on an earlier 1958 manuscript in Allen Ginsberg's possession.
The article "the" in the title was never intended by the author, but added by the editors of the Olympia Press 1959 edition.
Nonetheless The Naked Lunch remained the title used for the 1968 and 1974 Corgi Books editions, and the novel is often known by the alternative name, especially in the UK where these editions circulated.
The novel was included in Time magazine's "100 Best English-language Novels from 1923 to 2005".
Burroughs states in his introduction that Jack Kerouac suggested the title. "The title means exactly what the words say: naked lunch, a frozen moment when everyone sees what is on the end of every fork." In a June 1960 letter Jack Kerouac wrote to Allen Ginsberg saying he was pleased that Burroughs had credited him with the title but had not recently heard from him. He states in his letter that Ginsberg misread 'Naked Lust' from the manuscript, and only he noticed; that section of the manuscript later became Queer, although the phrase does not appear in either of the two final texts of the novel.....

Locked In - project : A recorded trip made in locks on the Danube between Linz and Nuremberg by Sarah Washington, DinahBird, Knut Aufermann and Jean-Philippe Renoult. European Sound Delta (Summer 2008) was a boat journey on two of Europe’s most densely trafficked rivers, the Danube and the Rhine. Over summer 2008 two boats sailed slowly upstream from the Black and North Seas to the final destination point in Strasbourg. Along the way resident artists composed sound pieces and experimented with alternative forms of radio inspired by the journey.
Jean-Phlippe Renoult has organised a series of re-workings of his "Locked-In" audio piece entitled "Locked-out"
He has invited artists :

ShakeRattle&Roll:
While Digital Radio (DAB) is spreading all over Europe, it’s time to remember that, since its birth, the radio has always been a medium for creativity and not just a powerful means of communication, capable of the best as much as the worst.
This idea is still true for many radio and Web radio stations around the world which celebrate radiophononic creation everyday, through the production of inventive and surprising sound pieces. On May 23rd 2009, from midnight to midnight, will thus be set up the first international Radiophonic Creation Day, a 24h programming devoted to radio creation. More than 40 radios and artists, coming from 12 different countries, produced sound pieces that will be broadcast in streaming on the festival website and on FM via 9 radios in Europe.
This festival is not only a way of showcasing the lively contemporary radiophonic creation scene, but also to introduce this art to a wider audience. The Radiophonic Creation Day attempts to include every aspect of radiophonic creation by proposing radio plays, creative documentaries, field recording, experimental and concrete music, sound poetry, Hörspiels and unidentified sound objects.
We hope this event will inspire the production of creative programming in European radio stations and accelerate the setting up of a found to help radiophonic creation. Nowadays, this neglected art still suffers from a lack of financial help that continually threatens its position among the radio production line.
